Welcome to Evergreen

Our Unique Story

In 1837, a prominent doctor named Ashbel Smith from Connecticut purchased this land for the sum of $5,000. The property included all of the land from this park to Cedar Bayou. He called it his "Headquarters." He later purchased an additional plantation near Tabbs Bay named Evergreen. Over the years, both parcels of land came to be known as the Evergreen Plantation.

This story will take you on an adventure, based on historical fiction, to learn about the land that was once occupied by Ashbel Smith, his staff, and the oppressed people who were enslaved here.

If you enjoy action, adventure, and immersive storytelling, this game is for you. There will be a series of clues to find and solve, challenges to complete, and elements of role-play.

I am your Adventure Guide. I will customize the game to your skill level and interests as you progress. You will be able to contact me directly, in real time, if you get stuck on a clue or are ready to advance in the story. My goal is to provide a safe and fun alternate reality game for you to enjoy.

How to Play

1. Follow and message me on Instagram @adventureguide1

(link here). Send the message "I'm ready" to start the game.

2. For a more personalized game, tell me what name to call you and how many in your party. If age-appropriate content or the historically-accurate topic of slavery is a concern, please let me know in advance.

3. As you complete challenges in the story, I will ask you for passwords to prove that you have completed them. The correct password will unlock the next part of the story.

4. Pay close attention to details in the story. They may become important in solving future clues and challenges. If you are stuck on a clue or challenge, you may ask me for hints. Also, look for visual clues to let you know that you're on the right track.

All content that is located in the Jenkins and Hollaway Park area are free of charge, my gift to you. If you enjoy the game and appreciate my brand of storytelling, you will be able to purchase additional content at a very affordable price, which will take you outside of the park and into various places in and around Baytown.

My dream is to share my love of storytelling with the world. I hope to expand on this idea and create additional content in the future. If you would like to support my dream, play the game and share your honest opinions with me.

Any evidence of unsafe, illegal, disrespectful, destructive, or otherwise nefarious activity from participants will disqualify them from proceeding at the sole discretion of the Adventure Guide.
